Overall, I must say my experience in working with Eastern Virginia Roofing and Exteriors on the re-roofing of my house was really good. Everything flowed and worked like clock work. Several months prior to my re-roofing work in October, my neighbor had gotten his roof shingles replaced which had turned out really well. Coincidently, I had been working towards having my roof re-shingled as well before the winter, since the old shingles had out-lived their performance due to age (about 15 years) and from shingles lost due to off and on periods of heavy wind. In talking with my neighbor, he referred me to his installer - Eastern Virginia Roofing and Exteriors.

The company's manager, Shawn Saunders, worked patiently and continuously with me from the beginning on the selection of my Certainteed shingles and other materials - advising and educating me along the way; all the way to completion of the project and clean-up with his crew. They worked quickly and efficiently on my two-story from early morning until about mid-afternoon.

I was quite satisfied with the quality of their work. Mr. Saunders has been back out to my place after about a week or so to check on the finished work and to see if everything was still okay, intact, or needed touch-ups. My flat top Mausoleum roof was in desperate need of replacement. Every time it rained we had an indoor lake. I turned to my company's "Online Maintenance Desk" to assist me in finding roofers to provide me quotes for replacing the existing flat top mausoleum roof. Mr. Saunders was very informative on everything that was going to be done along with a time line for all of the work. His crew also worked with our staff so that whenever we had to use the Mausoleum Chapel for a service they would stop working.

Church Hurricane Damage

To whom it may concern,

During Hurricane Irene, our roof at First Calvary Baptist Church in Hampton was severely damaged. As pastor I contacted many roofing companies to get it repaired but not one of them returned my calls or even came to give me an estimate. I contacted Shawn at Eastern Virginia Roofing and Exteriors; he said he would be out in about an hour or so, he was on a job site in Williamsburg. After he arrived he did a complete inspection of the entire roof including a flat section and we even looked at the gutters that were damaged and water damage to the interior to the kitchen area. He immediately called in his crew to cover the many places that were leaking with tarps.

Then the real work began, Shawn met tirelessly with the claims adjusters, calling, e-mailing and doing all the negotiations with three claim adjusters on behalf of our church. This was a long process; Shawn kept me informed of everything by phone and e-mail on a daily basis. There is no doubt in my mind if Shawn had not been our contractor we would have not been able to negotiate with insurance companies and claims adjusters to get the repairs done and the claim taken care of.

To say that Shawn went the extra mile is an understatement. He treated the project like it was his own building. Today, we have a beautiful new roof, our flat section was completely treated and we have all new gutters and Shawn coordinated the entire project from beginning to completion.

If we have another storm, he’s the only person I am calling.
